Storage
All our wines are stored at Vinotheque wine cellars in Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire, UK, which is part of London City Bond.
Wine is held 'offshore' in a bonded or tax warehouse so that duty and any local taxes are not applicable.
The massively constructed 19th c. grade II listed building offers the perfect environment for the long term cellarage of fine and maturing wine. In the last two years in excess of £1 million has been spent upgrading and enhancing the warehouse to ensure storage conditions and security second to none.
It's metre thick, red brick walls ensure a constant and steady temperature; cool enough to ensure the precious property within remains unaffected by the fluctuating weather patterns that affect the outside world. And its four perfectly formed floors couldn’t have been designed better. The ground floor is in possession of those majestically grand columns and ceilings that are the hallmarks of the period’s industrial architecture and are now ideally suited to the storage of faster moving stocks of wines. The upper three floors are more intimate, more compact, and hence ideal for the cellaring of fine wines during maturation and those that require long-term storage
The temperature and humidity within Vinothèque are close to ideal. Insulation, air flow and natural light shuttering make certain that wines develop in a carefully controlled atmosphere. Constant monitoring ensures that all wines from inexpensive table wines to top Château Claret are kept and matured in ideal conditions. Customers can therefore be assured that their investment is secure.
Equally important, the warehouse is physically secure and protected by a state of the art intruder alarm system. The heavy oak doors and significant ironmongery from yesteryear have been boosted by state-of-the-art CCTV cameras that monitor every angle and corner of the building, inside and out, extensively. A security company – the same firm that protects the major banks and high value businesses elsewhere in the area – has 24/7 security patrols, and there are, of course, all the usual security checks and monitors on all staff and visitors to and from the site.
London City Bond's market leading systems have been extended to enable Vinotheque’s customers to have full visibility of their stock over the Internet at all times, as well as giving the ability to order over the Internet and monitor orders.
Every case is marked and identified with a unique “rotation number”. You will be advised of this number on receipt. You can also access your account at any time on our website, using a password known only to you, and view these rotation numbers noted against your wine.
