Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the history of Bacchus Vintners?
Our small team of 5 came together through their own passion for wine, along with experience within their fields of customer service, sales and trading knowledge.

2012 sees us enter our 6th year of trading. Our European office was established in Spain in March 2007. Bacchus Vintners Ltd was incorporated in April 2009 with our head office in St. Albans in Hertfordshire.

Due to our continued success, we have now opened offices in Radlett in Hertfordshire and in the West Midlands.

Q: What % growth can I achieve?
Based on historic evidence the fine wine market has shown considerable growth over the last 5 years. This is despite two severe down-turns in the Global economy. We are forecasting continued steady growth for the next 12-15 years in the Fine Wine market - with some wines achieving strong returns over the mid-term. We aim to generate 8-12% per annum for our clients who hold a diverse portfolio over this term.

Q: What are the storage costs?
We ask all of our clients to open their own account at Vinotheque, London City Bond in Burton upon Trent. The storage costs are £12.96 plus VAT per case, per calendar year. The wine is fully insured to the current market value or full replacement cost.

Q: How long should I hold the wines?
Whilst this can differ between different wines, we generally advise a minimum of 5 years.

Q: Why invest with Bacchus Vintners?
We are an independent Company without links to any wine producers so all our recommendations are unbiased.

Our clients are not investing in Bacchus Vintners as a commercial organisation. Their money is invested in the physical asset - the wine itself. Each client has his own private account at LCB. Upon its arrival at LCB, the wine is held in our client’s name and the case is physically labelled with the owner’s rotation number that identifies it as his own.

Our client has access to LCB’s own website through a personal login name and password allowing him to monitor the arrival of the wine into his own private account. This means that only our client has access to his wine as they are the legal owner.

We act as agents, sourcing wine for our clients through UK and European suppliers. With our knowledge and contacts within the industry we are able to buy wine as close to the producer as possible.

We assist our clients with a full comprehensive service; from selecting the wines, setting up our client’s private account at LCB, organising all delivery and transport costs, examining the wine upon arrival and issuing of certificates. We will also compile an annual report on our client’s portfolios and provide all relevant market news on the world of wine.

Most importantly, we do not charge commission on the sale of our client’s portfolio. All of the profits are our client’s to keep!
